The smaller thumbtacks hold several sheets of paper easily.  The large thumbtacks are twice the size of the smaller ones, and are incredibly powerful.  Just one large thumbtack can hold a 12-page calendar!  The are useful for holding maps, large prints, posters, presentations and other oversize items.
